Naeem Muhammad
Naeem Muhammad is a seasoned leader in the nonprofit sector, with nearly two decades of experience at Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA). He currently serves as the deputy director of engagement, a role he has held since January 2024. In this capacity, he has been instrumental in increasing the organization’s peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising by 300 percent through strategic partnerships. Naeem also spearheaded the implementation of P2P fundraising on social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook, and led the successful 2020 Ramadan Campaign, which provided critical funding during the early stages of the pandemic.
Before becoming the deputy director of engagement, Naeem served as IRUSA’s US programs manager. He managed the development and administration of all domestic programs, including grants and refugee resettlement. He represented IRUSA at community events nationwide and spent four months as interim program director. Under his leadership, the domestic programs portfolio grew from $1.2 million to over $5 million.
Naeem’s previous roles at IRUSA include community outreach manager, regional fund development manager, national events manager, and development coordinator. He joined IRUSA in 2002 and, apart from a three-year stint as development director and interim CEO at the UK-based charity Small Kindness, has been with the organization ever since. Naeem is also a graduate of Towson University and a talented musician who has toured globally and released three albums with the Nasheed vocal group Native Deen.
